This past Monday was a lively one, with the early lead trading off between the two banks of Bordeaux. In the end, there was a surprise upset when a volley of votes secured the lead for our Right Bank Contender:Chateau Billeron Saint Emilion 2009
Most of our winner's supporters praised its light, smooth drinkability.
In a shocking repetition of last week's numbers, our vanquished Left Bank Contender was defeated by only one vote:
Chateau de Haute Selve Graves 2006
Team Left's supporters cited its complexity, richness, and long finish.
All in all, a fascinating night which demonstrated how richly varied wines from the same region can be from the influence of terroir and vintage. Our cheeses were a huge hit, with the Pipe Dreams Bouche (Goat) from Saxelby's being the favorite pairing with both wines.
